LOST OpenSuse!! Error 15: File not found
Hi all!
I am a new user ... several months just learning my way around, but not much of a tinkerer within linux. I have a dual boot system - or at least used to. Ubuntu 8.10 and OpenSuse 11.x I seem to have lost my ability to boot from Open Suse ... I get "Error 15: File not found". This was a fairly recent install ... so if I try to reinstall, will teh SUSE dvd automatically rediscover the correct partition info etc... ?? Or can I somehow recover my original install?? It is my pref to not interfere with my Ubuntu install, as I have a few bookmarks and things I have saved ... and a few emails in my evolution ... If I am gonna partition, how do I know which partition is UBUNTU? I know these are pretty basic questions, but I told you I am green at this. Thanks in advance. Stan |

You first installed Ubuntu and recently Opensuse? Were you ever able to boot into Opensuse? If so, were any changes/updates made to Opensuse after the initial installation? The error 15 in Grub generally means the entry in menu.lst is incorrect or the file does not exist. I would suggest that if you are able to boot Ubuntu and your were using Grub from Ubuntu to boot, you post the contents of its /boot/grub/menu.lst file as well as the output of the 'sudo fdisk -l' command.

Ask for a terminal to be sure as su or sudo and run the command fdisk -l (L lowercase) Also gives us the contains of the menu.lst vi /boot/grub/menu.lst |
