Login splash screen background colour

I have just decided to move distros from FC3 to SuSE 10 both using gnome, which has gone smoothly but i am having trouble changing the colour of the background behind the splash screen shown while the computer is loading, after you have loged in. Previously, while using FC3, i have just followed this thread but this does not work for Suse. Any help with this issue would be greatly appeciated.

If using gdm as login manager, try Menubar>System>Preferences>Desktop Background then change the background colour to whatever you prefer, this won't affect the desktop wallpaper.
If using kdm as login manager try kcontrol (in terminal) then
System Administration>Login Manager>Background.

I'm not 100% certain that will work but it ought to.

Thanks for the advice but i have already tried changing the background colour of the desktop to no avail. I am using the gdm login manager and have now worked out how to change the background colour behind the login screen, this setting is in the file /etc/opt/gnome/gdm/gdm.conf under the section [gui], but you only see this colour for a second before it changes to the default blue colour.
