Linux maintenance/cleanup...what locations?

running OpenSuSE10 - I have located a couple of area's that hold temp files but other than these few (see below) locations I cant find much within my Linux system to clean-up. Perhaps its overkill for Linux, but running an A/V (ClamAV) and a firewall (Guarddog) along with weekly/bi-weekly cleanup seems to be to easy...compared with Windows requirements. Can anyone think of additional steps that might make my machine run faster and/or more stable?

I found the following locations:

lost+found (3 locations-what is this used for?)
/tmp
/usr/tmp
/usr/local/src
FireFox cache
Desktop trash

...are these paths ok to delete?
...can you think of anymore?
...thanks for your input.

lost+found is a directory created on every ext partition. As far as I know it's used to place files (or parts of files) that where recovered by a filesystem check after a crash (in Windows it's known as lost chains).

As for directories you also have /var/log which keeps system logs, however logrotate should keep logs from growing too big. In /var/adm/backups are backups made by Yast during packet update.
