Linux Kernel - Control Center - Error

Hi,

[First apologies if this thread is in the wrong forum]

Having just installed Suse 9.2 on my Acer Laptop I get the following error when I access the "Linux Kernel" in the "Control Center".

"The kernel configuration could not be read due to the following error:

No hardware architecture was specified! Perhaps the kernel source code is not installed on this system, or the path to the kernel sources is entered incorrectly.

Either your kernel sources contain invalid configuration rules or you just found a bug in the KDE Kernel Configurator."

How do I investigate or progress this?

Kind regards

The last time i checked the KDE kernel configurator had a problem with 2.6 kernels but I am not sure whether this has been fixed yet. As for the error, it seems like you have to install the Suse kernel source.

Just a stupid question: What do you want them for? If is is just to get rid of this message, it is wasted space. You don't need the kernel source unless you want to compile a new kernel or driver.
