KMix is gone after smart upgrade of kernel

Hi,
yesterday I have smart upgraded my system . I saw that kernel was upgraded too. This morning I started my computer ant after grub loading window (before boot window) I was automatically logged into Windows. Then I reboot with SuSE DVD, choose to start installed system and I was in SuSe again. I saw in text mode, before KDE window, that there are some serious errors, but I entered into my last session. Then I did smart update and smart upgrade and also synaptic which said that there is duplicated kernel source. The old one and the new one. I removed the old one completely. I hope it will be OK when I boot again. But the other problem is I lost KMix. I have the icon on tool bar with red x over it. When trying to open it says that there is no mixer installed. What to do??

Thanks

Hi,
I just rebooted my system and back I am again. Everything seems to be OK now. ALSA is working too. But i have an additional possibility in bootloader menu. Beside SuSE, Windows, safe mode, I have now to boot "SuSE old kernel"possibility. How to remove it?

you just have to edit the grub file and comment out the kernel you dont want to show up (the old one).... to do this open a bash shell as root and type
Code:
gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst
... and just add a "#" symbol on the entry of the old kernel. Then save the file and reboot... tada nomore unwanted entries in the grub menu.
