kicker crashes kde

My KDE Panel crashes right after it gets into my user name and when I type kicker into the run command thing in the right click menu on the desktop, it just crashes again trying to boot up. Any suggestions? I'm pretty much a noob who is lost when I have problems on Linux.

BTW: This problem does not occur with my root account.

Thanks in advance,

Well if it affects just the one user account, its probably something to do with your settings folder. All settings for user account specifics are usually in hidden folders (which begin with a dot ".").

If someone else doesnt have any suggestion why you'd get this error, I'd suggest renaming your ".kde" folder in your user account home director (/home/yourname/) to something like "kde-backup" then reboot and see what you get.

You will probably loose your settings in your user account but you can either copy them over from your backup or just re-set them.

Ok thanks a lot crazibri. That worked great. It also got my desktop icons in order lol, not that I couldn't have done that, but yeah...

Thanks again,

No problem. Just a little trick I had to do when I converted from Suse 9.2 KDE 3.3 to KDE 3.4 :D
