Keyboard layout switching problems

i've just installed my firt Linux (SUSE 10). went throught install basically ok. but now have some issues to resolve. i'll make separate threads for each. This one i think might be a bug in SUSE Linux.

During the install to the default English-US language i've added Russian and Slovak languages. After the install in YaST i've enabled keyboard layout switching and again added Russian and Slovak layouts in addition to already installed US-English. I also checked option of sticky switching ( = it would switch only between 2 of them when Alt-Ctrl-K shortcut is used).

If i try to switch between English and Slovak it workds great. However, when ever i switch to Russain (from either Eng or Svk) i can't switch back, nothing happens when i press Alt-Ctrl-K - indicator still shows RU in system tray and it still typing cyrillics.

does this sounds like a bug, or am i mising something and there's a way to fix this?

Thank in advance!

You can use the xmodmap command to switch between any number of keyboard layouts. Locate the appropriate files {probably in /etc/X11 somewhere} and the command is: xmodmap file

To make switching simple, you can set aliases in your .bashrc file {assuming you use bash}. For instance, I have dvorak and qwerty each aliased to the home keys in the other layout, so to toggle back and forth I use the left home keys.

cheers,
vq
