KDM theme


anyone know how to do this....
# Edit your ~/.kde/share/config/kdm/kdmrc
# Change or add the line Theme=~/.kde/share/apps/kdm/themes/"THEMENAME"

# Download and unzip the theme archive.
# Put the theme folder in ~/.kde/share/apps/kdm/themes
# Edit your ~/.kde/share/config/kdm/kdmrc
# Change or add the line Theme=~/.kde/share/apps/kdm/themes/"THEMENAME"
# Restart KDE
# Have fun! :-)

How are you trying to do it, and what specific problems are you encountering? I'm not sure exactly what the question is. You just edit the file, probably as root.

well first of all as i just found out, there is no kdm/themes under the kde/share/apps place so what do i do ?

Well, first of all, are you sure you need to install the KDM theme manually? I mean, if you go to the login manager in the KDE control center, can't you just install a theme that way (the whole .tar.gz, not decompressed)? I'm using Gnome right now, but when I was using KDE with Mepis, I seem to remember being able to just install the theme graphically.

If that doesn't work, you can do a search for the name of an existing theme to see what folders it pops up in.

ya whenever i try to install it that way it says that no configuration file was found

so i dont know...gnome was much better at this...it was very easy to change all this stuff with gnome
