Kde & Isdn

I have a curious problem.

1st of all, I do not start up in graphical mode ... i use ssh access to my linux system which acts as router into internet.

Using SSH access, i start my isdn dial connection & initialize my firewall scripts which work fine.

There are some situation where I start up KDE (either on console or on vncserver) to do some admin tasks.

During startup of KDE and as long as it's running, my ISDN connection to internet doesn't experience a problem, but when I shut down KDE, or stop vncserver, my ISDN connection is terminated.

Does anyone have an idea why this happens, and maybe how to prevent this ?
