K3B icon missing in panel - Suse 11.3

New Suse 11.3 installation with Gnome desktop. Added K3B using Yast2, and after completing the install of K3B, there is no icon for K3B! Instead there is an "X" and the text for K3B in it.

From the main menu -> more applications -> multimedia, is where the K3B icon is.

Yast2 is supposed to install any dependencies needed or warn if it can not find any missing dependencies. What is missing, or is it a permission problem? All the other application icons seem fine.

Suse 11.3
# 'zypper in k3b' : 51 packages gets installed (The most of KDE4.)

And there is no Gnome icons for KDE applications :
In section Multimedia 'clementine' and 'k3b' have a nice Gnome icon with an X.
The 'Gnome Menu' will obviously only use those Gnome "xml text entries"
and not any "real" icon. ( KDE can use png , jpg, etc.)

It could be that the other KDE applications that I have installed also have GNOME icons? There is another application that has the same "X" in it, and it is "terminal - super user"...isn't that a GNOME application too?

Since K3B is an application that runs on both KDE and GNOME, don't they have an icon for both?

It may be the dependency issue. I know in 11.3, I got the LiveCD GNOME. I play Gnibbles a lot, but they dropped it to the repository, so when I went in and got it, there is no icon for Gnibbles (A GNOME PROGRAM) and when I run it, it's missing the Press Ctrl+N to start page. Yast was happy with all dependencies. I think they totally botched 11.3.

I am using Gnome Slackbuild 2.30 on Slackware 13.1 (full install) and just added K3b to my "Applications" menu and it had no icon - same as the problem you describe.

I did find a nice icon in "/usr/share/apps/k3b/icons/oxygen/128x128/apps/k3b.png".

Then to "System -> Preferences -> Main Menu", find your K3b launcher entry, right-click -> "Properties" and then add this png file as the launcher icon. Done.

I hope you can find this directory/file on your Suse installation too. Good Luck.

icon, k3b
