Java in Firefox 1.5
Hello. I'm running SUSE 10.0 OSS here, and as it came with Firefox 1.06, I made the (painstaking, as I have a dial-up modem) upgrade to v. 1.5. It works fine and all, except for one thing - it seems to have lost its "connection" to the Java plugin on this system. I have the Java runtime installed, and it works fine in Konqueror, but I'd like to be able to use Java content in Firefox as well. How can I hook Firefox up (for lack of better terms) to the runtime?

yeah that can be annoying.
basically when you install firefox it created the following directory: /usr/lib/firefox-1.0.6/plugins in here might have been your link to the java plugin. however, when you upgrade, you might now have a folder like this: /usr/lib/firefox-1.5.0/plugins and the 1.06 directory deleted. do you know where java is installed? as konqueror is using it it must be somewhere. probably in: /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins usually that directory is created to get round this problem. if not then make it and then you need to link your java plugin to there.... make sense?? |
