Dont know if you guys have solved this problem, but I had a similar problem bout 2 days ago where I was unable to browse the smb network at work. Not one of the servers would show up when I clicked the network icon
I tried typing in smb:///computername, yet it still didnt work. I checked to see if the firewall was enabled by default, however it wasnt. So naturally, I did a search on google and this post came up.
I followed this link
http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba...ry/098121.html
however this didnt fix the problem. I dont really know for sure if the steps I took solved the problem, however it did work so here it goes
1. uninstall all samba packages.
2. reinstall all samba packages
3. i then restarted the smb service /etc/initi.d/smb restart
4. checked to see if this work - network computers didnt show up.
5. went into yast > system > run level editor
6. made sure all smb services were enabled.
7. click finish.
8 . then it works ! < well works at home with a single MD 10.1 box .... now i have to test it at work .. but i cant see why it wont work.
Hope this helps
