The thing with Linux though is that you will at some point have to get your hands "dirty" and venture into the world of the command line. It's one of the things you sign up for when you decide to use Linux. At first it's pretty daunting, but you get used to it pretty quickly.

EDIT: Another thing about SUSE from my experiences as compared to especially uBuntu and Fedora, is that here there are a lot more users who can help you with a problem. I find that a big bonus.
Although I do not use it currently, when I ran Mandrdriva, I do not recall ever using the command line. I do not think it is really necessary today--especially with "newbie friendly" distributions like Linspire, Mandriva, SUSE, and Ubuntu.

For most things you probably never need to touch the command line. Then again one of the major reasons why I started running Linux was for MythTV.

Before i actually installed linux...i played around with live-distros. This helped me get acquainted with the overall linux "persona" One could just as easily install and tinker..but in such case the disapointment can be greater ..then that of a user who used a live-distro for some time.

Yeah I started with a 9.2 LiveCD iirc. Hence why I have tended to have the SUSE install as the main one of my Linux installs.
