Internet problem in windows after using SUSE

I recently installed SUSE 10.1 on a triple boot system which includes W2k server and XP Pro. The problem I have is that after using SUSE and then rebooting into W2k I cannot access the internet until I have removed and then re-installed my modem. I use a external Motorola Broadband USB. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I remember reading about something similar to this on another site a while back. I don't remember the details, but the problem seemed to be that some buffer memory or something got changed which was persistent enough to carry over into the reboot.

The only remedy for something like this appears to be to make sure the memory gets properly cleared by powering down completely and waiting 30 seconds or so before booting up into the other OS (or powering down the modem itself, as you seem to have discovered).

Perhaps you could file a bug report with the Suse folks about it?

I have started to switch my modem off between reboots and this seems to correct the problem although it is early days yet. Certainly a better option than removing and then reinstalling. Thanks for your advice.
