Installing R9800P on SUSE 9.2 x86_64

Hello everyone.
Please, can someone guide me through the required steps in order to install my ATI Radeon 9800P on my SUSE 9.2 PRO x86_64 ?
I'm not sure which version to get - XFree86 4.3/X.Org 6.8, which kernel i use, and what to do after i download the driver...

Thanks for the guide, pretty impressive.

I've got a problem tho:

I open the console, and type 'sh check.sh', tried it in both user/root, and i get the following message:

Code:

=====================================================================
 ATI Technologies
=====================================================================
Your possibly not running this script from the console
or maybe you simply dont have the console ownership.
Unable to determine XFree86 Version. Stopping now.

I'm running SUSE 9.2 PRO x86_64.
How can i find out if i have XFree86/X.Org and which version is it?

Thanks in advanced!

This is just a guess, and only a guess,
check /etc/X11

If you have XF86Free.conf (there may be a .4. in there) you are running xfree86, the x.org is named something like that and is not on my system.

SUSE 9.2 uses XOrg and you should be able to find out about the version by typing 'X -version' on command-line.
