I always get 'Installation source not refreshed' errors for my local folder installation sources. However it seems the directories still work. I installed the Psi Jabber client from an rpm in my /home/?/bin/ folder and it works fine. It could be the same for you, that the 'installation source not refreshed' has no functional meaning.
Schalken: I find that if I add a new rpm to the directory, YaST will not see it. Those that where in the folder when you added the directory will work no problems.
did anyone ever find a way to install rpm's form local directories? ive been trying every way possible and couldnt find a way to run them. always got installation not refreshed error. ive tried using the terminal command yast -i \whereverRPMis\something.rpm. i tried deleting the source and re adding it. i tried with refresh on and off. always the same result. im using the suse 10.0 with 64-bit. hoping someone could finally solve this problem. thanks in advance
Great! Then tell me where the best place is to download 10.1....because I'm getting a bit ticked off at 10.0. Oh, BTW...Thanks everyone for your help. Obviously I still haven't resolved the problem....I just gave up for a bit. My new problem with it is "ERROR: THE FOLLOWING PACKAGES HAVEN'T BEEN FOUND ON THE MEDIA"....Then it lists whatever rpm I'm trying to install. I think I'll do a search and then post a seperate thread if I can't find the answer. Thanks again all!
