Install RPM with YaST
Hi!
I downloaded an RPM off the internet and I want to install it using yast. How do I go about doing this? In the past I have just used rpm -ivh packagename-verinfo.rpm But this doesn't solve dependencies. Thanks, David |
I do not have a GUI installed.

Yast works in text-mode also. But I would guess that dependencies are only solved automatically if it is also a SuSE-package.
To install an RPM via Yast, type yast -i <package-name> |
I add the path to the install sources. When the install is complete, I archive the rpm file in a subdirectory, and disable the path. (I tend to download rpms to the same place.) I've had some weird issues with Yast figuring out the path I want, but other than that it works fine.
