Hi,

I'm having trouble installing SuSE 9.2 Pro,

I'm installing from the DVD/CD.

Onto a clean system.


When I boot the PC, machine boots off DVD1 no problem (will not boot off CD2) into the boot screen but when I try to install using any option available (I tried safe settings also) the machine just goes to a black screen and hangs.

Once I did get some dots of colour at the top of the screen and they did change when I hit the arrow keys but I could not repeat this.

I don't think it is a graphics card issue as the splash screen displays perfectly.


I've tried everything in the Admin Manual.

I've tried different cd-rom drives, HD is good too.


The weird thing is this installed perfectly on the exact same system a few months ago...


Anyone got an idea, cos I'm totally out.

Why don't you try some other OS like slackware, freeBSD etc which has a text based installer? With slackware you do not have to download a second CD, if you can live without KDE.

If it works, you could try installing SuSE in text option. Post your results here...
