Install problem: keyboard not accessible SLES10

I am upgrading a SLES8 server to SLES10. During the new install I boor from the SLES10 install CD. The install procedure seems to take much longer than normal, but when I finally come to the menus, I can work with the mouse but cannot enter any text via the keyboard. Even the test function on the keyboard type page remains empty when I type. Also hitting numlock has no effect.

Every time I abort the installation so my old SLES8 is still bootable and then keyboard is OK.

Any hints?

OK, found the problem, the keyboard connector was just a little bit loose at the back. These mini-DIN connectors should really have some kind of restrainer to hold them on better.
