Install problem - hang with io scheduler cfq registered (Default)

I was hoping someone could suggest a solution to my install problem.

OS: openSuSE 11.1 x64 DVD ISO media
MB: nForce® 750a SLI Motherboard


* 2-way SLI graphics support
* NVIDIA HybridPower™ Technology
* GeForce Boost™ Technology
* PCI Express 2.0
* NVIDIA Control Panel utility
* NVIDIA MediaShield™
* 6 SATA 3Gb/sec. ports
* Gigabit Ethernet port
* Supports all Socket AM2+ CPU's up to 95W

Onboard Graphics


* Onboard GeForce 8200 graphics
* HDCP Ready
* HDMI Certified
* Up to 256 MB DDR2 Memory
* HDMI + DVI + VGA outputs
* NVIDIA CineFX™ 3.0 Engine
* NVIDIA nView™ Multi-Display Technology
* DirectX 10 Support
* NVIDIA PureVideo HD Suppor

CPU: AMD Athlon 6000 3.1ghz
Memory: 4 gb
sata drive: 1 tb (clean nothing on it)

I have disabled the APIC bios feature.

So far boot options tried:

video mode: text
Safe boot mode

boot options: noapic acpi=off nofb


boot options: noapic maxcpus=1

all stop on: ip scheduler cfq registered (default)

Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

Same problem
MB: AOpen i945Pa-PLF
CPU: Intel P4 640
OS: SLAX or RescueCD (all kernels)

boot options all or every combination: noapic acpi=off nofb
