Question Install media possibilities (Help needed to Change)

Hi everybody

I am trying to install SuSE 10.0 on a compaq 1825 with its cd-rom partially ruined. I can boot from that cd-rom but it wont finishes installacion. So I could use and my external USB cdrom. My question is how to change source media during installation? Is there any way? Would it be better start from floppy and not from the partially working internal cdrom?

What is your suggestion?

Pls Help
pd I was able to try slackware as it has the option to search for source media (during install)

Have you made sure that you can't boot from that external USB cdrom?

It should be possible to configure the installation source from the manual installer. There may also be a chance to select a drive directly from the boot menu. Try pressing F3 then F4 and see if you get this option offered (might be network installation only).

Hi thanks for the reply

I do not really know what manual install would be so i can not try it out. F3 and F4 gives me the following options: cd-rom, slp, ftp, http, nfs, smb/cifs. I do not know if any of them could be usefull for me. In first instance i would choose cd-rom but it will start to load from the built in cdrom (whichfrom i boot the first cd) and the it just would not let me change. However when install starts it offers me to tesm mediums and there i can choose my usb cdrom, but installer carries on installation from the built in cdrom.

So still the cuestion is if i can change the source of the installation during install.

Would i be able to do that so if i boot up from floppy?

Thanks for the replies again

Other idea just in case it would work

Is it possible to boot up the first cd (in built in cdrom) as s rescue sistem and than start installation from the first cd (in the usb cdrom) and what would be the command to do that so?

Thanks for the replies

Hi
So I did not have too much luck. Though i can start up system from install cd with rescue mode and than I can get to the usb cdrom but from there what? How to start than the install process? I just could not find any file that would help me start the process. (the cd of course was mounted)

Any Ideas?
Or have any ideas about how to change source medium?

Thanks
