In need of contents of ~/.profile on Vanilla SLED

Well, I did something pretty stupid.. I did:

echo "YADAYADA" > ~/.profile and I ment to do echo "YADAYADA" >> ~/.profile

Since I did the first one, it overwrote everything in it..

Can someone please post the contents of their Vanilla SLED 10 .profile

Thank you.

SLED doesn't have an /etc/skel directory?

If it does you can likely find the files you need there.

P.S. Experienced fat fingerers trick:

cp -p <file> <file>.CCYYMMDD where CCYYMMDD = Century, Year, Month, Day. And of course file is the name of any given file (.profile in your case.)

This preserves a copy of the original file with the same modification date, ownership, group and permissions. If what you try doesn't work (or destroys something as in this case) a simple:

cp -p <file>.CCYYMMDD <file>

This will put you back to where you started.

Its a REALLY good idea to do the above when dealing with system files like /etc/hosts, /etc/passwd etc...
