IBM TP 600x: no sound in SuSE 10.0 (OSS)
Hello everybody!
I have a problem (as many of the visitors here), and I would be happy to know your ideas about the solution. So, I have a laptop - IBM TP 600x. I had SuSE 9.1 Pro - installed without any problems. A week ago I downloaded the OSS version of SuSE 10.0 and tried to install it. I made it, the update ran smoothly (except know issue with the mouse). But later on I noticed that there was no sound at all. Short research in the YaST-Hardware information showed, that my sound card was recognised during the installation, but no drivers were loaded. I tried to remove the sound card in the YaST-Sound card section, and then added a new one. At this moment I got the error message saying that package "snd-cs46xx" was not loaded (or found). I searched for this package in the software section - no success. I will appreciate any help - direct hints, references to another thread, etc. I have read already that OSS-version of SuSE 10.0 is different from the commercial one. Can it be a reason for the problems? Should I start/install any additional packages/services? Thanks a lot in advance, regards. Andrey. |
ACPI is guilty!
I think, I found a solution - yesterday I switched off the acpi and made my sound working (in YAST and in GNOME).
BUT!!! Now I have problems with booting... :-( Still have to work on it... |
