I know that there must be some musicians at Linuxquestions that record & edit their music right onto their computers. On my next website I want to include soundtracks. Is there a good, easy to operate, software program available for download to accomplish this?? Thank You!!

Try this nice little gem: http://ardour.org/ or http://www.rosegardenmusic.com/. Here's a nice resource: http://www.linux-sound.org/

After four failures at downloading I opted to try and see if there was a recording program in my suse 10 os. I found two Sound Recorder and qaRecord.

Sound Recorder freezes up for some reason and a " force quit " has to be used to shut it down. I got qaRecord to create a file from my tape player and Kaffeine to play it back.

I thought I was going to be able to use Manauton but in the very last step within the terminal installation two problems arose because stuff was missing from my computer. ( It would have been my first terminal use success. )

With qaRecord and Kaffeine I can skip using so many cassette tapes and record right into my computer.

Thank you for your help and the links!!

Most people with mid-level needs, use Audacity

Sorry, I assumed you meant compose and edit music. rickh is correct with his suggestion of Audacity. Instead of downloading apps from various sites, first check your package manager and see if they are there, and install them that way.
