Hi, I have an old Compaq computer. I wanted to clean installSUSE on it but that can not be accomplished. It is not a bad configuration ( 1GHz Celeron, 512 MB RAm, 2x40GB disks). The setup went fine from the beginning, but stopped somewhere in the middle of the installation. It is trying to install some disk driver (can not remember now) At the end I decided to install Win XP on it. Any idea why ??
Distribution: Mandriva 2009 X86_64 suse 11.3 X86_64 Centos X86_64 Debian X86_64 Linux MInt 86_64 OS X

I could help if we know the error message.
And which driver it like to install.
Did you try to find on the opensuse hardware database if you're hardware is supported and in which version
You're graphic card which one is it ?
Well, as I remember now, it has to do something with a HDD driver, something like ai??_''', really I cant remember. I googled a little bit and I found that this is a common error connected to SUSE. All other HW is OK.
