I need to copy my address books from Mozilla 1.7.5 on my XP system to my SuSE system with the same version of Mozilla. Normally, I would export them on one, email them to another and then import accordingly. However, there is a bug in 1.7.5 that will not allow exporting of address books, so I was hoping to just copy them over.
I have a dual boot system and I can see the Mozilla files on my XP drives via SuSE, but I still haven't mastered this "root" thing about getting into hidden files. The Mozilla folder is hidden on my home drive and I can't seem to get how to copy into it properly. What would be the best way to do this and for that matter will these files even work from XP to SuSE? They are .mab files.
Are you running NTFS on XP? If you are, I'm not sure you can copy a file from there. Linux NTFS support is not great at best. If teh file is not huge, you could copy it to a floppy, and then copy to Linux.
This would take a little work, but I would suggest you create a fat32 partition. Fat32 can be read and written by both OS's. Then you could put any files there you may want to access from either OS. You will find help information in the Wiki section on how to mount a fat32 partition. Or you could search for that information, it has been posted many times.
As for the "hidden" thing, if you bring up Konqueror, click on the View drop down, there is an option to show hidden files. Click that, and you should be able to "see" the .hidden files and .folders.
Thanks, Cliff. I did get into the directory with the "view hidden folders" in Konquerer, but after copying the file from my XP system in, it isn't able to read it it and creates a new one.
I guess I'll have to wait until they fix the bug in Mozilla.
