How to set up Canon Power Shot Camera under SUSE 10.

First off I know less than nothing about cameras.
I bought a Canon Power Shot 720IS that I would like to be able to use.

All the instructions that came with the camera relate to "Windows" operating system.

Can someone tell me in laymen terms how to set up and use this camera on SUSE 10.2. I'm just not very computer literate.

Using SUSE 10.3.

You should be able to use the Windows instructions to connect your camera to your Linux computer. Linux has a hotplug daemon that watches for new hardware. When it detects the new hardware it loads the correct driver. Linux will then create an icon on your desktop for the camera. Click on that. It will act just like an external disk drive. You can copy or move the pictures from the camera to another storage device using your graphic file manager.

Your camera may have a switch that selects between making pictures and connecting to a computer. The Windows instructions will tell you if that is the case with your camera.
