How to make shutdown on login screen available to anyone
On SLES10 (gdm) how do I give anyone permission to shutdown the machine from the login screen? I've tried modifying the /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager file from DISPLAYMANAGER_SHUTDOWN="root" to "all" as well as modifying the Local Security settings in YaST (Shutdown Behavior of KDM: All Users) but to no avail.

Hi and welcome to LQ.
Have you tried running gdmsetup or editing gdm.conf. |
Editing gdm.conf
I had run gdmsetup but didn't see anything that would configure the login screen shutdown/reboot command permissions. When I edited the gdm.conf file I found the "AllowShutdown" and "SecureShutdown" which fixed the problem.
Thanks for your help! |
