how to get the mobile connect card working on suse

HI all

I have a UMTS broadband (HSDPA) connection and trying to get it working with this datacard device which got shipped from the provider http://www.vodacom.co.za/services/3g...ds_novatel.jsp

so far I've found articles like this onewww.kuix.de/umts/vodafone/ which almost gave me a solution IF and only If there wasn't the problem that suse behaves differently for this issue than other distro's (see the article) , although the author mentioned that kernels newer than 2.4.25 would not support the device (it's alot of headache I tell you)

nonetheless , I've managed to send an SMS using this device via debian etch , but still couldn't make a ppp internet connection on neither distro .

So if anybody has informations on how to get this thing working on new kernels (higher than 2.4) then plz give me some feedback , especially if it works for suse 10.1 or higher as well ....btw the problem suse 10.1 is having with this device is that the usbserial modules won't take control over the device unlike the other distros.

any wisdom is greatly appreciated.!
