How to get stardict to see dictionaries

I followed the instructions from this article about Stardict:

http://applications.linux.com/applic...tid=13#discuss

I downloaded 4 dictionaries and followed the instructions from the article about unpacking and moving them to /usr/share/stardict/dic but when I launch the program it says no dictionaries found.

I haven't been able to find any documentation and a search of this forum found similar threads with no answer. Is anyone using this program with success?

Theres no answer yet so check these first
Have you gone into /usr/share/stardict/dic and checked that the files are there
In Stardict's preferences it sounds like you would have to tick the dictionaries it uses -have you done this

Yes, there are 4 dictionaries in /usr/share/stardict/dic. When I launch the app it says no dictionaries found and none are listed anywhere that I can select.

Edit: I installed the rpm called 'withoutgnome' since I use KDE. (in case that matters.)

I had the same problem. A quick string search in the binary revealed that stardict searches ~/.stardict/dic. So create a link in your home directory to /usr/share/stardic/dic and everything should be OK
