How to enable 2 NICs and share internet to a windows PC using Opensuse 10.0 OSS
hey help
i hve opensuse 10.0 up nd running
i also hve a windoze box.
at a time my machine can activate only one NIC
how can i enable 2 cards at a time..
i have 2 cards ( one for cable modem and one for my internal n/w)
how can i enable internet connection sharin for my windows PC
help plz
To provide Internetaccess for your windows box you have to set the (Standard)Gateway to your linux-box (internal net) and to enable routing for your linux-box (with yast)
i setup default gateway in my windoze box..
and my ip for linux box is 192.168.0.1
and for windoze box is 192.168.0.2
plz help me on configuring routin on my machine..
its urgent (
ok.
I assume you have Internet-Access for the Linux-Box
Linux-Box:
1. Start Yast
2. Choose Network (devices?)
-- Yast should find both NICs. If Yast finds only one, you have to install the driver for the NIC.
3. Choose Routing
4. Enable IP-Forwarding.
For the XP-Box
Set the default-Gateway to "192.168.0.1" (The Linux-Box)
You must also configure the Nameservers (Get the necessary IPs from your ISP - normaly two Nameserver entrys)
--You can also install squid on your Linux-Box (Basic installation is working) and set the Proxy in IE with port 3128 then you don't have to hassle with changing Nameserver IPs.
hey i enabled routin on yast..
but i dono nameservers of my ISP..
is there any way to know tht.
i can ping my 192.168.0.1 and my external NIC frm my windows box
since my ISP don allow to share connection ( the y will charge Extra).. i don wanna let them know abt this
sometimes ISPs provide a configurations page with the nameservers.
As I said, install squid on your linux-box and in the connections-settings of the browsers on your windows-box set 192.168.0.1 as http and ftp proxy. This means your linux-box forwards the http/ftp requests and does the name resolving.
BTW no configuration, just install.
Maybe check your provider information in the dsl setup.
hey
i installed squid..
and set the proxy on windowz brwser for HTTP on port 80 as 192.168.0.1
but when i tried to conect to a webpage it said..
proxy refused to connect.
