You could always use the date command as root to set the time. See the link for more details.

yes use the date command

some init script will then set the HW clock using the SW clock you set whil shutting down. When booting the system clock will then use the HW clock to match.

Another way would be to use the NTP process but you need a reference server for that. you can use some over internet.

Hi,

Down-Under in Australia I use the following command from the console:
su
password for root
# ntpdate au.pool.ntp.org

In your area (you are not Down-Under, are you?), from google search for ntpdate or ntp servers. Also, your ISP probably runs a service, anyway.

HTH a little,

OldAl.

Hi OldAl,

Thanks. I got it. I connected to a server in Germany. And, yes , I am not a Down-Under, whatever that means. here in Slovenia I think, we do not have a place named like this one ( HI just joking. We have to sometimes, dont we?).
And thanks again.

My understanding is that the following
# ntpdate au.pool.ntp.org
gives a time that is obtained from a pool of registered time servers in the "au" region. More accurate?

Thanks for the link to info!

OldAl.
