How Do IInstall Gnome On OpenSuSe Slick

Hi guys,

I'm very new to Linux, and I'm running OpenSuSE Slick which is a great distro; however, I prefer the Gnome desktop to KDE and I would be really grateful if somebody could please give me some (easy to understand!) advice on how to install Gnome.

Thanks very much in advance..

You might have it already. I am not sure what login manager Slick uses, but check and see if at the bottom of the screen there is a tab marked "Session". Click and you get a list of all available environments. Choose the one you want, click "change session" and login. You will get a query asking if you want a temporary session or a permanent change. Click your preference and presto. If you find that there is no Gnome, use your package manager to sniff it out and install it. You may be able to get tarballs directly from Gnome.org but letting your package manager do it virtually assures that it will show up in your login manager once installed.
