I just tried to install MPlayer in terminal More dependency problems. It sure would be nice if YaST actually worked with external sources because I'm sure I have most or all of these other files on my disks.

An editorial comment: I have loved my Linux experience. It is so stable. So vastly superior to Windows. Windows, in my experience, has reached the point where it no longer deserve the label operating system. It has become a NON-operating system. My last 6 months on SuSE Linux 9.2 has been the most productive and efficient computing experience I have ever had. But this software installation problem is a real downer. I understand that this codec problem is itself an extension of the Microsoft problem, but software installation in Linux, in general, is just too damned difficult. I would like to see Linux succeed and become widespread, but this installation problem is a very serious flaw.

You can add Packman to your Suse YAST repos. The instructions are here. You may want to add the Guru repos as well.
