How do I change Desktop environment?
Right now I am using Gnome, I would like to give KDE a spin.
I know that KDE is the official Desktop for SUSE, however I just swtiched over from Fedora Core while ago (I stopped using Linux for a while, and used Windows) which uses Gnome by default. After being turned off by a buggy FC5. I swithced to SUSE. So since I was familiar with Gnome I used Gnome. i just want to take KDE for a spin, as Gnome works perfectly fine. I just would like to see why most Linux users prefer KDE. |
Open YaST goto Software Management > Selections and tick the KDE Environment.
Then click Apply and it should install KDE on your system. Logout and choose KDE as your session option at the GDM screen. NOTE: KDE and Gnome on the same system can result in cross-menu and desktop pollution. In short, they do not always play nice with each other's user configs. |
Thanks
I kinda figured that. I thought there was more to it. |
Have you changed your default DisplayManager within sysconfig in YaST
