How do I add a local directory as an YaST repository.

I am new to SUSE and just installed 10.0 less than 16 hours ago. : )
It looks cool and almost everything that I wanted worked fine so far. One thing I couldn't get it work is that setting a local directory as an YaST repository. To update the system, I downloaded all updated packages to an external hard disk at school and brought it home but I cannot find the way to update the system from it using YaST. How do I add a local directory as update repository ?

Thanks for any hint or answer in advance.

Open up YaST under the Software tab chose Installation Source when the window opens up there will be a drop down menu at the bottom called "add" click it and choose "local directory" you may get an error that will eather let you quit or add RPM's found in the directory as instalation sources.

Does anyone else get the error that the installation source has not been refreshed? And it seems it really does not refresh it even when I do so under the Installation Source section.

Yes I get the same error message and the files I have in this directory are not available. For now I'm just installing the files by hand (rpm -Uvh file.rpm) but I would really like to know how this is fixed. Searching at the moment.

I have found a work around to this problem to delete the directory as a source, close down the source manager, reopen the source manager and re-add the directory as a source. Tiresome but what else can one do.
