Hibernation Problem

Hibernation doesn't seem to work correctly on my laptop (Inspiron 8100). I am running SLED 10.

Once my laptop goes into hibernation mode, it won't come back from it. It stays at a black screen despite moving the mouse, pressing the keyboard, etc. So then I have to restart my laptop by holding down the power button.

Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

This also happens on some windows machines. For those systems, the problem was with the acpi bios and not the so. Note that with acpi disabled, the hibernation worked just fine.
You should check on your machine manufacturer for firmware updates

I have found some machines where the problem is caused by hardware (IMB Thinkpad), the video drivers, acpi module or just some application that was started before hibernation.
You should remove each possibility until it works

I had this problem when using nvidias driver. I had to disable the default agp-module and make sure that nvidias loaded instead. I'm not at my regular computer right now but I hope it points you in right direction.
