Here is how to get the nvidia driver running on Suse and keep it running!!!


just follow the steps, this is what I did to get nvidia driver to run suse

1)go to the nvidia web site and download the driver
2)hit ctrl+alt+F1 and log in as root
3)type init 3, then install the driver ./Nvidia-***.run -q
4)type sax2 -m 0=nvidia (0=zero)
5)your done

what you need to make sure is that your kernel matchs the kernel sources. The easiest way to do this is to not update your kernel with the update program.

enjoy I did this with a tnt2, the version of driver I used was 7174, if you have a old video card you should use this one

how to install nviudia driver:
read nvidia README file before installation. Nothing else is required (assuming standard hardware config)

Or you can run YOU and select the nVidia driver listed there. That's what I've done and I see the splash everytime I boot.

the driver off you works as well, but for some reason I have to reinstall the driver everytime I rebot, anyone know how to fix that?

I'm a suse noob
