Help Please

I have a dual boot Suse 10/Windows XP Professional system. Windows XP locked up and had to have a hard shutdown (hold start button for 10 seconds). When I tried to reboot I got the following:

Grub loading...please wait
Error 17

I can't get past it. I am not that great with Linux. How do I fix it to be able to have the Grub load again? Usually in Windows you can hit F8 and go from there. I have no idea where to begin in Suse. If I can't boot into the system, hwo do I diagnose it and fix it?

Help PLEASE!!

I think that error means that it couldn't mount the drive. Is it possible that the drive has
failed? Does the drive show up in bios?
If there is nothing wrong with the drive then you could try booting from the Suse DVD. One of
the options is recover or repair or something like that.

the rescue option is a valid way of going or you could try my grub trouble-shooter where you use commands to find what the correct partition your booting files are on etc.

see my sig

btw error 17 means that grub was not correctly installed or there is a hardware issue such as some fancy LVM or raid issue
