Not quite sure what you mean...

Just as a test, I fired up phpMyAdmin from my WinXP system to my Laptop running 9.3 and MySQL 4.1.10a. That worked.

However, I did try to connect to the Linux MySQL server from my XP MySQL and got rebuffed:

mysql> connect 10.14.19.15 ;
ERROR 1130: #HY000Host '10.14.18.19' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL
server
mysql>

Hehehe...

I also tried to get one of my local (WinXP) PHP websites to point to the DB on my laptop instead of local.

I got a similar message

Warning: mysql_connect(): #HY000Host '10.14.18.19' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server in C:\PROJECTS\carnivore\website\_dbconnection.php on line 10

I am not sure where to go from here to help you out.

I am getting that same exact error, only on the user administration window though. I can add databases and tables etc... just can't add user through the nice streamlined UI... damn. Does anyone know what me may be doing wrong?

I have come to the conclusion that mysql-administrator for linux is extremely unreliable and just plain buggy on SuSE. I am not going to waste my time trying to recompile this shit, it would take less time for me to just re-learn the sql syntax that I need and just do it all via the shell. If anyone finds out how to fix this problem, I woule be interested though.

I am running SuSE 9.3 and installed the RPM for my distro, i had the User Administration as mentioned earlier. I deleted that rpm and just installed the binarn linux glibc one and i could do User Administration, however it crashed and was really unstable. This shit need to have warning labels like BETA geez!
