Unhappy Help me with the installation of SUSE9.3

hello guys,
im new at linux and i wanna give it a shot because im a little bit bored with my windows, i just downloaded the 5 cds of the SUSE 9.3 and im getting an error with my installation process....

1. i configure my bios to boot at cd rom.

2. the installation continues until i reached the menu on which i have to choose how will i install suse. the options are: 1.boot from hard disk 2.installation 3.installation - acpi disabled 4.installation - safe settings 5.rescue system 6.memory test.

3. i tried the 2, 3, 4 option but ends with the same result of error. i got an error stating:

crc error
VFS: Cannot open root device "<NULL>" or unknown-block(104,2)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(104,2)

please help me with this, i really dont know what to do....
im using windows xp pro, 512 ddram, 20gig hd with a partition of 10gig for drive c and 10gig for drive d. sorry for my grammar if you find it so confusing.

Maybe a wrong dma mode is used. You could try to boot with ide=nodma.
