help codec updates for kaffeine and amaroK

Hi all I am a newbie I need some help with finding and installing codecs for Kaffeine and AmaroK. I want to use YAST and the Software Management/Package Group process if I can, it is the easist way for me to follow. So what I need is, finding codecs and help with the step by step process to load into YAST via Installation Source/http or other/ and what wording (address) to load into Sever box and the Directory to Server box.

I am using AMD Athlon64 +3000 step 6 CPU stock heatsink
Chaintech vnf4 ultra socket 939 MOBO
MSI NX6600 nVidia graphics card 128 pci express
samsung DVD+-R 16x
SuSe 10.0 Novell is store bought OS

I installed everthing new but now want to play DVDs and most music forms. I like Kaffeine and AmaroK the best right now So I would like to know how to update these to using YAST.

I tried following Scott M. Morris steps but I do not think he is on a x86_64 plat form.

I also tried this link but I am to new to Linux to follow the language in his article. Linux language to new to me.

I want to be a Linux user and not feed into big mega monopoly OS business.

Thanks in advance..
P.S. I can not add full link address's yet so the above links are incomplete.

The versions of xine, xmms etal that you have won't play DVDs, MP3s, etc. Try going to http://rpm.pbone.net website and locating packages for SuSE 10 that are from the packman site. The pbone site has a feature that I like. It can check your system for dependencies i If you allow it ), and highlight the dependencies with urls to their packages as well.

It may be easiest to uninstall xine, mplayer, and xmms to begin with to reduce the number of conflicts.

Something else you could do is download the source for xine and mplayer and try to generate them from source.

Bear in mind that this will lock these programs in the suse rpm database, because using another source for the rpm's, suse can't apply updates.

update

I tried to add packman (rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/4/idpl/2268239/com/kaffeine-0.7.1-3.pm.0.x86_64.rpm.html) from rmp.pbonedotnet using konqueror as download interface, then install with YAST, but I ran into mutiply errors and conflicts notes. How do I remove old codec using software management tool? And Is this where the conflicts and errors are coming from? Thanks again for your input. Pinto

P.S. and should I go ahead and try to install anyway with all the errors and conflicts?

Look for w32codec, it provides allot of what you want. Also installing mplayer brings a lot of codecs with it.
