GUI Login not appearing

Hello,
I have installed Suse 9.3(along with WindowsXP professional) on my computer which has the following configuration:
Pentium4 3.0GHz
Intel 915G chipset
Samsung TFT monitor
80 GB SATA hard disk
1GB RAM
Here is a series of events that happened just before this problem arose.
I installed yahoo messenger(linux version) and tried to login with a proxy address. It could not log in even after several minutes. It gave a series of error messages which could not be read because the error window appeared blank.I could not even close any of these window.
I opened another instance of yahoo messenger and signed in with a different proxy. It worked this time. But the earlier one still could not be closed.I restarted the computer and a window appeared asking for login id and password. This window kept on coming and I could not log into linux.
When I logged in the text mode it showed an error "pcmcia failed" at runlevel 5.
Can anyone help me out in this problem.
Thank you

If you get a window, it means that the X server is runnig?! Don't you get any other error messages? My suggestion: boot into runlevel 3 (type '3' at the grub menu) and login to the command line. Then type 'startx' and see what happens. You should at least get some error messages.

Here is the error message that it gives when I type 'startx':
(768x576,Monitor [0]) mode clock 100000MHz exceeds DDC maximum 80MHz
(1280x1024,Monitor [0]) mode clock 108MHz exceeds DDC maximum 80MHz

I suspect the problem has got something to do with my monitor setting. My monitor is a 15" Samsung SyncMaster 152x TFT. The exact model doesn't appear in the monitors list. So I had selected Samsung SyncMaster 150A TFT.It had worked properly initially.
Please help me...............

Try to enter the graphical setup (sax2), once you are in runlevel 3. If the monitor does not appear in the list, simply pick LCD and an appropriate resolution and enter the supported frequencies manually (you should find them in your monitor handbook).

EDIT: Seems I have double answered your double post. Grumpf!

I did that.Chose the appropriate frequency range for the monitor. But absolutely no change. :((
