Unhappy GUI login not appearing

I have a comp whose config is as follows:
Intel P4 3.0GHz with HT
Intel 915G motherboard
1GB RAM
80 GB SATA hard disk
Samsung 15" TFT monitor
CD RW/DVD ROM combo drive

I've just installed SuSE Linux 9.3(i586)-Kernel 2.6.11.4-20a-smp(tty1) on this computer. When I rebooted the system,no GUI based login appeared.Instead only a text based login appeared and never went to the GUI mode even after logging in.While booting the final 3 lines were as follows:

Master Resource Control:runlevel 5 has been reached
Failed services in runlevel 5: pcmcia
Failed services in runlevel 5: smbfs nfs xend

Please help me to set the problem right and enjoy Linux.
Thank you

Maybe it's just that your graphics card is not properly configured. The failed services should not be the cause. Try to login as root, switch to runlevel 3 (type 'init 3') and run sax2. Configure your card, test, save and exit. Now switch to your normal user account and type startx. If the GUI comes up, reboot and see if it takes you to the graphical login this time.
