GNOME does not work need to boot into KDE

Hi!

I am using SUSE 10.1. I logged into GNOME and decided to change my default GNOME theme. The system froze and after a reboot I can no longer get into GNOME.Does anyone know :

1. How to manually change GNOME theme back to default theme
2. Does anyone know how to boot into KDE?

I have lots of data, pictures and musis and I have completely destroyed my installation.

Many thanks in advance

Ivan

Relax, you havn't "completely destroyed" anything. The modular nature of linux means that you have just frozen gnome. You can always just use the x console, for eg.

If KDE is installed, then you can select it as a "session" in the login screen. There is usually a menu option for this. There are other session options to explore too.

In the absence of a session menu, you can always ctrl-alt-backspace into console mode, login from there. You can start kdm and/or edit your files from there.

Thanks for the response. I have managed to start kde. I have tried running gnome-theme-manager but it crashes. Does anyone know how I could change back to original GNOME theme by changing some config file? If I achieve this I will be able to start my GNOME back.

Sure - my gnome themes are found in the .themes directory in $HOME, try deleting the theme you fiddled.
