Gnome and SUSE 9.3


i just wonderd if Gnome 2.10 comes as standard on SuSE 9.3.....

And if it does.... how do you choose Gnome instead of Kde?????

Yes, Gnome 2.10 is included.You must select the Gnome packages in the installation process or you can install them afterwards using YAST.

You can then log out of KDE, click on [Session] in the bottom left (I think this is right, I am not at my pc at the moment), choose "Gnome" and then log back in.

Question Post install packages

Hi there. I installed a standard KDE system during my suse 9.3 installation. Now I want to test out gnome and I know you can just install the packages from the CD. But what packages do I need to select to do that? (without bloating my system with every gnome package included)

I'm not entirely sure which Gnome packages are essential for the desktop and YAST doesn't offer a "minimal" installation. What I would do is to deselect all the packages that I know I don't want or that look superfluous and let YAST check dependencies. Sorry I can't be more help.
