Gnome 2.10 is Sluggish.

I have not yet tried the new SuSE 10, but today, after a long time, when I switched to my Gnome...It lags like anything.

It takes a lot of time to open up even the applications menu.

I got a Intel Pentium 4 Processor, 32MB video memory, 256MB RAM and all the normal things requried to run a Graphical System.

KDE works fine. What is wrong with GNOME?

I have also heard that the new GNOME 2.12 is even more sluggish.

Any comments on this one?

Gnome is very good DE, but not on SuSE. Want to have fast Gnome? Use Ubuntu or Debian-Etch

Whats wrong with SuSE?

Moreover, will we get the same response if we use the GNOME on Slackware? (Not Dropline GNOME.)

No on slackware it runs fast. On suse it sometimes even hangs.
Here it runs on Slackware 10:

That must be Dropline GNOME, isn't it?

Whatever it is...looks good.

Gnome on SuSE really sucks.
I also tried out Window Maker and FVWM, they were fast as expected.
KDE is as it should be.

Thanks for the reply man.

Actually it's not Dropline. Slackware 10 has Gnome among it's packages. Unlike 10.2

Yes. I know. For some reason it was discontinued.
