gimp on 12.2 Suse

I found using gimp on 12.2 that the only colour that the text tool will do
is yellow that is no matter what colour is set in the text tool box.

Anyway, of getting round this problem?

If I download the latest gimp is it fixed?

Make a vm, get a new iso of 12.2 and be sure to test it. Then only install gimp from suse source. Some of the one click packages are not really tested, they are made by regular people. If the vm works correctly then you have to look at your system. If the vm fails then look at software.

I have been building 'The Gimp' from the source for over 10 years
and do not use a prebuilt rpm on suse

so ?????
it might be a bug in the rpm ? or not ?

also on suse i DISLIKE with a passion the "one click" install

as i am using OpenSUSE 12.1 and NOT 12.2 yet the version of gimp i am using is 2.6
( that way i do not have to build 2.8 against a bunch of different base installed packages )

2.6 gimp is the problem. I have tried suse12.2 and Ubuntu (both with 2.6 they both have yellow printing.

for 2.8 you might have to build against a different version of gtk and glib
maybe a few other things

i took a quick look awhile back and decided that 2.8 did not offer enough new and better things to make it worth while to build

building 2.6 is very easy
but you have to install a lot of -devel.rpm's

and xsane source and Gutenprint source
and call for the print support to be built in the build line

( or use suse's gimp-print rpm )

now 2.8 IS IN OBS

search the suse build system
https://build.opensuse.org/
https://build.opensuse.org/package/b...=openSUSE_12.2
or
install the obs multimediahoto repo
and use zypper

Hey Op. I've just tested this, and it's not yellow, but i think i know what you mean. I've had issues with Gimps text input before too. Try this method, type what you want to type, even if it isn't the colour you want, and then highlight the text and change the colour while the text is highlighted. That seems to be a work around for me. I've had to do the same thing to change size too.
