I'm running a stock install of Suse 9.1 with KDE 3.2. I like Konq as a file browser and ftp client.
I kind of miss using gFTP.
Does the Yast repository have gFTP? Do I need to install Gnome to get it? I can live without it if I have to.
Thank you.
Partially. If you already have other Gnome applications like gimp installed then you probably don't need to install dependencies for gftp. The best way to take care of the dependencies is to use YaST to install gftp from the SuSE install CD. YaST will take care of the dependencies automatically.
I've put the install CD in. I've fired up Yast. How do I install from the CD? I've changed the source, but, can't seem to install from the CD or search the contents of the CD.
I don't seem to have KBear. I'l check usr/bin and see if it is there.
Thank you.
Thanks for your suggestions. I got tired with messing with the CD.
Downloaded gFTP from the Suse archive and used Yast to install it and handle dependency issues.
Originally posted by kencaz Remeber, Konq is also a great FTP client.. I use it all the time... Split window one side local other side FTP... drag and drop... Easy as Pie...

Yes, I used Konq the last two days after my Suse install to update my websites. It does have a nice drag and drop feature. I'm just used to gFTP and use that on all of my Linux boxes.
Yes, Konq is a fine ftp client.
