Getting mutimedia to work on suse 11.1
 

I am not a newby to this, I had everything set up and working in suse 10 but now I've "upgraded" I cannot play mp3s, films or DVDs. I've installed what I think are the correct w32codec-all and libdvdcss packages but nothing works.

These packages are "w32codec-all-20071007-0.pm.1.1.i586", "libdvdcss-1.2.10-6.17.i586" and "libxine1-1.1.16.3-2.pm.5.3.i586". All of which I downloaded from PackMan.

This is with Totem, MPlayer and Xine, all of which I got to work perfectly under suse 10 by following the sticky on this forum.

I notice there is not a "getting multimedia to work under suse 11.1" sticky. So maybe I'm missing something. I've already "googled" the problem but it just shows links to enabling multimedia on suse 9.x and 10.x, which I already know.

One further thing is my suse box is not connected to the tinterweb, well it would be if I can figure out how to get the modem to work, so I can only install these packages by downloading rpms at work, I cannot install directly using the package manager connecting to repositories.

Without an internet connection, you will have to install using RPMs and you will likely incur dependency problems. You might try using this link.

After finding the RPMs you need, look down the page to find the dependencies that RPM requires. However, the dependencies may themselves require dependencies.

Try in addition to google for suse restricted formats no repositories or no internet
